Alicia Fernandez-Fernandez, a PhD student from the BME FIU department, has been appointed to an Assistant Professor full-time position in the Physical Therapy Department at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), starting July 25. Alicia trained as a physical therapist in her native Spain, as well as at FIU (MSPT) and NSU (DPT). She graduated from the BS BME program at FIU in 2007 and she continued into the PhD BME program under the mentorship of Dr. Anthony McGoron, studying the cardiotoxicity of current and novel chemotherapy agents. Alicia will continue to work to finish her PhD dissertation while at her new position, where she will teach and mentor entry level and post-professional doctoral physical therapy students. She will be teaching prosthetics and orthotics this Summer, and she is looking forward to bridging collaborations between FIU and NSU.
