On September 28, 2018, our BME department hosted the 9th Annual Undergraduate Research Day in collaboration with the Wallace H. Coulter Biomedical Engineering Lecture Series.
The event featured the outstanding research of our undergraduate students. Baarbod Ashenegar won first prize for his poster on “Multiscale Modeling of Neurovascular Coupling: From Ion Channel Activity to BOLD fMRI Responses”. Luis Herran won second prize for his research on “Evoked Referred Sensations Through Quadripolar Transcutaneous Electrical Neurostimulation”.
We were pleased to welcome Dr. Sheldon Weinbaum, Distinguished Research Professor of Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering at the City University of New York.
We also welcomed BME alumni who participated in a panel discussion. They spoke to our students about their BME experience at FIU, their current positions (industry, medical school, or Ph.D. studies), and spoke about how to become successful leaders in their field.
Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of our 9th Annual Undergraduate Research Day!
