Endowed by the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation, the Biomedical Engineering (BME) department at FIU is a dynamic and expanding department with active interdisciplinary research programs.  We invite applications for multiple open rank, tenure-track / tenured faculty positions to begin as early as September 2014. We are seeking highly qualified individuals with expertise and research experience in Neural Engineering/ Neuro technology/ Neurorehabilitation.  A track record of entrepreneurial translation is highly desirable.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering or a related science or engineering field.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of scholarly work commensurate with rank and will be expected to develop and sustain a high-quality funded research program.  Candidates must have a commitment to teaching excellence at both the graduate and the undergraduate levels and be qualified to develop and teach courses in neural systems, or cell and tissue science and engineering. The new faculty will be expected to develop collaborative research with other academic units.  Prior experience with industrial and clinical partnerships and translational success will be considered an asset. Faculty for consideration of a tenured appointment must have an established record of scholarly accomplishment and international recognition. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

BME faculty is funded by NIH, DOD, AHA, NSF, FL DOH and industry. The department offers the BS (ABET accredited), MS, BS/MS, BS/MS in Engineering Management and PhD programs.  The department faculty is also actively engaged in joint curriculum development and research of interest to the Honors College, the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences.  Miami is home to several major medical institutions as well as the Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
