On Friday, April 12th, our BME undergraduate seniors participated in oral presentations showcasing their Senior Design Projects. Additionally, seniors participated in a college-wide Project Showcase on April 18th.
Graduating seniors showcased their research to faculty, friends, and family. The senior design projects are a reflection of the students’ efforts and serves as their capstone undergraduate experience. This event is the culmination of a yearlong process in which the students planned, designed, and implemented ideas learned in the classroom to create new devices for applications ranging from implants, surgical tools, device manufacturing process development, and diagnostic devices.
A total of 11 teams in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, all of which were sponsored by a clinical organization in Florida, showcased their talents by each presenting their own original projects both orally and through a poster presentation.
We would like to congratulate Team 10 (Daniel Muniz, Josue Uribe, and Giselle Valdes) for winning 1st place in the oral presentation. Their presentation, “System for Registering and Tracking Bone Movement”, was sponsored by Max Biedermann Institute for Biomechanics at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and the team was mentored by associate professor Anuradha Godavarty.
We would also like to congratulate Team 5 (Joaquin Brillembourg, Adrian Gutierrez, Victoria Leon, and Monserrat Otarola) for winning 1st place in the poster competition. Their presentation “Doctor’s Cyclo Massage”, was sponsored by Nikao, Inc. and the team was mentored by assistant professor Jacob McPherson. In addition, Team 5 placed third in the oral presentations.
