Congratulations to Shradha Prabhulkar on completion of her doctorate and being awarded the “Outstanding Graduate Student Award” by the College of Engineering and Computing at the summer 2011 commencement. Shradha performed her doctoral research on micro immunosensors in the Nanobioengineering/Bioelectronics Lab under the guidance of Dr. Chenzhong Li. Her research described in her doctoral dissertation “Development of Micro Immunosensors to Study Genomic and Proteomic Biomarkers related to Cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease” has been highlighted in the press. She has published 7 high impact journal articles and multiple conference proceeding papers as well presented posters and talks at several national conferences.
Shradha has been a recipient of multiple NSF summer fellowships, an academic year fellowship from the Everglades Foundation, the Dissertation Evidence Acquisition Fellowship and the Dissertation Year Fellowship from FIU and the 2nd place award at the Graduate Student Scholarly Forum at FIU. Because of her excellent record, she was offered a postdoctoral fellowship at a leading laboratory at the Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute prior to completing her defense.
Not only has Shradha tended her own research, she has also been a great mentor to several of our undergraduate students and has taught them crucial research skills. She has motivated these students to excel in their careers as Biomedical Engineers. She has also participated in several departmental and engineering college activities and has played a lead role in organizing many of them.
