Undergraduate students with Senior Design Professor Dr. Michael Christie
On May 1st, students from the College of Engineering walked proudly across the Ocean Bank Convocation Center stage, as they earned the recognition of FIU graduates. We are proud to announce the successes of all of our graduating students. BME had a total of 66 graduating students: 60 undergraduate and 6 graduate students. This semester’s undergraduate class included 13 Honors College graduates, as well as 5 members from Alpha Eta Mu Beta (AEMB) Biomedical Engineering Honor Society. We would also like to announce the outstanding dedication and success of our students graduating with honors: 13 Cum Laude, 6 Magna Cum Laude, and 1 Summa Cum Laude. Following the commencement ceremony, students were invited to participate in the Induction to the Profession Ceremony to honor their accomplishments and induct them into the Order of the Engineer. The Order of the Engineer is modeled after the Canadian Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer. The Orders were initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in their respective profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer, constructor, or computing professional.
