On behalf of our faculty and staff, I am delighted to welcome you to the Department of Biomedical Engineering within the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University. We are eager to begin the academic year and we are excited to have you join us on our journey towards establishing FIU as one of the premiere public research universities in the United States. Our department has grown exponentially over the years and you are a part of the largest incoming class to date. Today our department has over 11 faculty members, with diverse research focusing in the areas of Basic Research in Engineered Tissue Model Systems, Diagnostic Bioimaging and Sensor Systems, and Therapeutic and Reparative Neurotechnology. As part of the Biomedical Department, our students enjoy experiential learning opportunities and close interaction with faculty and industry leaders. Through internships in the industry and hands-on research activities in our cutting-edge laboratories, FIU Biomedical Engineering graduates at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degree levels have the number one in-state employment rates in the entire State University System of Florida.
We look forward to helping you achieve your academic and career goals!
