The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Florida International University is delighted to announce that Lynneah Brown will be joining the staff as an Academic Advisor. Lynneah was born in Albany, New york. She also lived in Elmira, New York, and then later moved with her parents to Miami, Florida at the age of nine years old. At the age of 17, Lynneah went to college and later received her B.A. degree in English Literature from Florida State University. In 2013, she received her Ed.M. with a concentration in higher education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Before joining FIU, she served as a Graduate Research Assistant within the College of Education at U of I Urbana-Champaign. Lynneah also has previous internship experience as a Summer Registration Advisor and a Teacher Success Initiative Advisor at the U of I Urbana-Champaign. In her roles as an Advisor, she gained valuable experience with advising and counseling students regarding their academic, personal and career options, course planning, registration and actively participated in helping students make a successful transition to the university.
Lynneah is also a member of the Minority Association for Future Educators, Special Populations’ Student Health Concerns Committee and Higher Education Student Association.
