Dharam Persaud, PhD Student
My studies began at FIU during the Spring 2009 semester, and since then I have experienced many things at FIU and within the department of Biomedical Engineering (BME). I have created the first Student Advisory Board within the College of Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME-SAB chapter). I have also excelled academically and within research, which has enabled me to be awarded a National Institute of Health Minority Doctoral Fellowship through the MBRS RISE program at FIU.
Pursuing doctoral studies at FIU in BME, has enabled me to further these experiences. I am very focused on research within the specialization areas of Biomaterials and Cell & Tissue Engineering. Currently, I am working with Dr. Norman Munroe and Dr. Anthony McGoron for my doctoral studies, on a project I have developed involving the use of new biomaterials that can be used as endovascular medical devices for the treatment of neurovascular aneurysms.
