The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is the professional society for biomedical engineering. Founded in early 1968, the society now boasts over 7,000 members and is growing, rapidly.
On October 17-20, 50+ attendees from FIU’s Department of Biomedical Engineering had the opportunity to attend the 50th Annual Biomedical Engineering Society Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Our students were able to share their research with 2,000+ attendees and network with some of the greatest researchers in the industry. Not only were the students active participants in the poster presentations, but many were also selected to present their research orally at the conference.
Our Alpha Eta Mu Beta (AEMB) chapter was awarded Most Active Chapter for the 10th consecutive year!
We closed the week with a reception, where students and faculty from biomedical engineering departments around the nation came together to meet others in the industry and network. The reception included our Thirst for Science initiative featuring assistant professors Joshua Hutcheson and Zachary Danziger, as well as associate professor Wei-Chiang Lin.
