Measuring Temperature Distribution in the Eye Patent

On July 16, 2019,  Dr. Jessica Ramella-Roman, director of the Medical Photonics Laboratory, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computing and in the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and colleagues Dr. Herbert Wertheim, Dr. Pedro Lopez and postdoctoral fellow Dr. Yuqiang Bai were awarded patent US10,349,837B2: Materials and Methods for Non-invasively Measuring Temperature Distribution in the Eye.

Patent Abstract:

The present invention provides devices and methods for measuring the temperature distribution of an eye using non-invasive techniques. Embodiments of the present invention utilize laser speckle cross-correlation to determine the thermal distribution of an eye.
