Biomedical Engineering junior researcher Daniela Alvarado presented her research titled “Decellularized Elastin-Rich Valve for the Treatment of Critical Congenital Valva Disease (CCVD) in Children” at the Florida Undergraduate Research Association’s (FURA) Posters at the Capitol event in the Florida State Capitol on Jan. 24. Posters at the Capitol offers the opportunity for four undergraduate students to present their current research and meet Florida representatives to learn about political processes and advocate for undergraduate research across the state.

Daniela Alvarado is a Biology major in the MARC U*STAR program. She transferred to FIU as a junior from Miami Dade College and was a summer intern in FIU’s Summer Research Internship Program funded by the Florida Heart Research Foundation. During the summer, Alvarado worked with Dr. Sharan Ramaswamy and has continued during the academic year.
