On February 8th, our department hosted a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion seminar. Manu Platt, Ph.D., associate professor from Georgia Tech and Emory University presented a lecture titled “The Danger of Acting Now”. His lecture addressed the fear of waiting for the perfect time to be impactful in promoting diversity and inclusion in your institution. Dr. Platt discussed the power and the payoff of being unapologetic about identity, the importance of intersectionality, and being intentional in diversifying the workforce.
